Attention SCUBA Divers and Families!

Camp Emerald Bay is introducing a brand new event this summer for SCUBA Divers and their families. Join us at Camp Emerald Bay, on the West End of Catalina Island, for three days immersed in the kelp forests and rock reefs that make California diving so distinct. This is a weekend for diving with family, learning new skills, testing out sick new gear and enjoying outdoor activities on Catalina Island.

The Emerald Bay Diver Center is located below the Pennington Marine Science Center, which hosts some of the largest exhibit spaces of any aquarium on Catalina Island. This fully stocked facility is only a few steps away from Doctor’s Cove and Table Rock, where you can explore rock reefs, kelp forests, and our local sailboat wreck either with a buddy or under the guidance of a professional. Spend your surface interval kayaking, shooting, hiking, or simply catching rays in the bay. There are enough activities at the camp to keep non-divers engaged and having a blast for the entire weekend, too!

Leading SCUBA equipment manufacturers will also be attending this Diver Weekend to let you try out their latest products. Aqualung, Atomic, Body Glove, and Zeagle among others will have their latest innovations and product lines available. You will have the chance to try something you’ve never done before, such as diving with an underwater scooter and getting in the water with the newest fin designs. Demo dives are included in the package and available to all certified divers— this is the perfect opportunity for the seasoned gear nut to test out the gear they have been eyeing and for the brand new diver to discover the options in equipment that they might never have dreamed of.

The all-inclusive package provides tanks and weights for 7 dives over the three day weekend.  After a checkout SCUBA refresher with the Malibu Divers Staff, participants can make their own schedule by signing up for staff-guided dives or with a buddy one your own schedule. All meals, shared cabin accommodations, transportation, and non-diving activities are included in the package

Participants can upgrade to a private cabin for an additional $200 (can host up to 8 people or as few as you would like). Please contact camping@bsa-la.org if you would be interested in this option.

All-Inclusive Diving Package (7 dives, tanks, and weights): $399

Upgrades available for Boat Dives, Night Dives, Discover SCUBA Diving (for uncertified Divers), additional dives, and rental equipment packages at the event or in advance.

Depart from San Pedro at 7:30 AM on Saturday, May 25^th. Return at 5 PM on Monday, May 27^th.
